Choose Between Life and Prosperity or Death and Doom

As Moses told the Israelites before they crossed the Jordan: Choose - Life and Prosperity, or Death and Doom.

We of the Order of Carmelites - JPIC cry out for Truth and Justice in the face of brazen stealing and lying in the corridors of power. We are indignant at the unending cover-up of the Arroyo administration of all the scams and scandals that have caused misery to our people. We believe it is divine intervention that God saved Mr. Jun Lozada. If the elements of darkness succeeded, the string of lies and cover up on corruption would have remained unchallenged.

We support Mr. Lozada for coming out with his testimonies on the greed of those in power for a scandalous $130 million dollars that could have been a big amount for social services needed by our people. We also support the De La Salle Brothers and all church people who courageously supported the Lozada family in the face of government intimidation and threats.

With the Lenten call “Repent, believe in the Gospel,” we challenge the Arroyo government to admit and account for its sins. We need more Lozadas, who admitted to have sinned but followed their conscience in speaking out against even bigger crimes of corruption involving high government officials.

Despite the weaving of lies of MalacaƱang, it is clear that the Arroyo family and their cronies have been running this country in “bad faith’. We are enraged by the temerity of this government in stealing the people’s money while they burden us with heavy taxes like the Expanded Value Added Tax. They feast on stolen money while our people are gripped with joblessness and homelessness. If we allow darkness to reign in our land, the lying, cheating and stealing, including the killings of those who cry for truth and justice will be treated as a normal thing.

At a time when the Senate investigations on government anomalies are crippled by MalacaƱang’s EO 464, media networks are threatened and anti-corruption advocates are killed and abducted, the churches are in the right position to confront these evil deeds in the corridors of power.

Let us unite and denounce deceptions and intimidation. We reiterate our call, for the good of the nation, Gloria must go!
